Projects on Kickstarter tend to have outlandish names like #-Link-Snipped-#, #-Link-Snipped-# and #-Link-Snipped-#, but when a PhD scholar Witold Mielniczek decided to name with a single alphabet âBâ, one could surely predict that this project was going to rise above the rest. In its prototype stage B, is now a fully functioning small remote controlled hybrid car-helicopter that has the ability to travel across tough terrain and if situation demands set flight almost instantly. The main body is made out of polycarbonate that houses Ackermann steering mechanism with servo and the 11.1 V 2200mAh Li-Po battery. The detachable driving rings contain the 7 inch propellers that can help the car fly. Continuing with the tradition of attaching cameras with mini drones B has an onboard camera capable of recording videos at 720p that can be stored with help of microSD cards.
On its Kickstarter page, Mielniczek has also mentioned the future plans of his innovation. B could serve as an exploration vehicle that can be powered by solar panels or rotating propellers to venture into unknown locations. In its full scale version it will be able to function as extreme sports vehicle or a rescue vehicle that can facilitate disaster relief operation in difficult terrains.
The project was put up on the website on 24th May with a goal of achieving £86,500 and with 9 days left for the deadline has exceeded the goal as it garnered £95,013 by the help of 337 backers out of which only those who have pledged £320 or more shall get their hands on it by Dec 2013. For now though, you can have a look at it in this video below.
