    Project Abstract / Summary :
    Automated Manual Quadrotor with Live Aerial Surveillance

    The project deals with employing a quadrotor for the purpose of live aerial surveillance. It can be operated either manually or autonomously. The manual control is achieved by using a dedicated radio transmitter and receiver. For an autonomous flight, the destination and waypoints for reaching that desination are preset with the help of an onboard GPS module.A telemetry module will help the quadrotor to communicate with the ground station to set the co-ordinates via GPS. With the help of an onboard camera and a video transmitter the footage at the destination is captured and sent to the operator or control station. The operator can take necessary steps based on this surveillance footage. The future scope of this project includes its use as a first response system supporting the law enforcement unit.

    Why did you choose to work on this project topic : Usually quadrotors or UAVs in general are used for hobby flying for domestic applications or for warfare in military applications. This project was intended to use the quadrotor in a differnt context so that it could be used for helping common people.

    Project Highlights : The reason for us to select this project will be the same for ours to win also. The social relevance of this project is very vast. At present the quadrotor can be autonomously or manually operated to reach a specific destination. Over time, by integrating it with our local police force, it can act as a first response system where the quadrotor arrives the crime scene and monitors there much quicker than the law enforcement officials and records the activities for future uses. It can also alert the nearby hospital for medical service and take necessary preliminary actions for effective law enforcement. Also a new design is proposed which will be slightly different from the contemporary designs that adds to the innovative part of this project.
