Let me give you hints about asking good questions 😀

    1. Building highly scalable applications.
    2. Implemting AJAX in a mail application for the first time.
    3. Ideas to implementation.
    4. "Don't Be Evil" 😁

    Need more, guys?

    Some dumb questions from me.

    1. What is so specific about using the AJAX programming technique used in developing Google mail?
    2. You offered a storage capacity of 1GB when your competitors were only able to offer 4-5MB. How was that made possible?

    😁 thanks!
And I remember, after signing on to my google account, for long time (about almost more than a year), there was no option to delete mails. I think there was no separate button and you had to go to 'more actions' to delete the mail. I wonder how did they miss it. Was it deliberate? Can we ask this?

No doubt Gmail is fastest because of Ajax implemetation in it. A basic question that came in my mind after some googling is

If we take into consideration the fact that to add official POP support for Yahoo mail, we have to add an application called “yPops” or pay to get Yahoo! Mail Plus. In addition, YPOPs may mess up firewalls, and is not easy for the average user to set up.Gmail comes with POP and IMAP free and by default. How did you guys do that? 😕

A naive question from my side. I do not know much about these things so the question is what every layman would ask.
They say that a g-mail account is one of the safest email I.D.s around. How was it possible? With so many accounts being hacked and the spread of viruses,i mean, how safe is a Gmail account and why?

I heard Gmail went offline for a while sometime back...so doesn't that raise doubts about cloud computing?
And how is adsense for feeds different from adsense for blogs or mail?

What amazes me right now is that Google seems to be concentrating on its GMAIL chat client as far as chatting is concerned while it seems to be ignoring its desktop client. For instance many new features like video chatting are available only through a web browser. I can not understand this strategy (of course they want to minimize the dependence on desktop clients and want to emphasize on web solutions so that they can move forward to their much awaited microsoft crusher 'web os', atleast if rumours are to be believed) at the expense of user convinience. Gmail based client is convinient only when you can't find a desktop client for your machine or some other scenarios where desktop client can not be used. May be Mr. Paul can throw some light on this.
    Cheers,
    Amit

I guess I forgot to mention that Mr. Buchheit is no longer with Google. He runs his startup - FriendFeed and is a VC !

I guess questions about video chat in GMAIL and some of the latest features may not be included in our final questionnaire.

What is going to be the future trend of email and networking applications?

Can bio metrics be integrated with telecommunications? ie, rather than be able to track an email or a communication to originate from a particular ip address, can it be made to point to a person by adding some biometric component? like finger print, perhaps. Since, digital signatures can be easily forged...

    1.What makes Gmail 'light'?
2.Whenever I log into Gmail, the memory size keeps on increasing, and its still counting,
just curious to know the storage structure?
3.What was all behind the idea of themes?they really took me by surprise
4.can we expect something like "Gmail desktop mailbox" similar to microsoft's outlook?
5.we have google gadgets/ what was the intention behind not including in current gtalk features?
