AMBER 2 - The Robot That Walks Like Humans

The time's come our robots should walk like humans. That is what Dr. Aaron Ames and his team at the A&M Bipedal Experimental Robotics Lab is working on; and the project is called AMBER 2. The aim for the team is to design, simulate and fabricate a bipedal robot that mimics human walk. The biggest challenge in front of the team is to create a mathematical model of such a highly dynamic system and then implement it using most moden sensors and fabrication techniques.

Such a robot would find applications in a variety of domains including space exploration, elderly assistance, prosthetics etc. Check out the demo of AMBER 2 in the following video which is quite impressive. We like the way AMBER 2 takes care of the obstacles in its path.
