It is disheartening news for you when we see our prized smartphone hits falls or hits a surface and you discover that it is of no use. It so happens that our Smartphones carry important data which is really required at the time of need and just when the Murphy's law operate. Amazon's CEO Jeffery P. Bezos along with Vice president Gregory M. Hart have filed a patent application titled #-Link-Snipped-# with the U.S. patent office as they have invented the concept of air bag which protects your precious phone from any damage.
#-Link-Snipped-#
Amazon CEO and Vice President filed patent for airbags to be installed in smartphones
The method devised makes use of sensors which calculate the distance of the immediate surface and analyze the velocity during free fall there by calculating time. If the risk calculated by the analyzing sensors exceeds certain predetermined level, then the safety measures mentioned in the patent starts working. Much to the amazement of automakers, the system works similar to the air bag cushion. The inventors from Amazon have also employed a technology of mid air transition for the device in which it will be operated. The mid air transition would mean that the device changes its position while during its free fall and would fall on the hardest/toughest part of the gadget. This again aids in limiting the amount of damage sustained by the machine.
It is very interesting to note that the duo has filed the report for application of this technology for company's all mobile phones. The research comes after much thought taking into consideration both economics and technology employed. As per a rough estimate, it takes around $20-$25 to repair a broken smart phone. Moreover, the degree of loss incurred in terms of time lost and amount of irritation caused to the user is significant. It does hence make a sense to have a damage preventing technology. The patent filed by Bezos and Hart not only takes care of this fact but also a lot of unnecessary e-waste may be eliminated. Bezos who has studied electrical and computer science during his academic years has really devised a brilliant method for preventing mobile phone damage.
