There are many troubles faced by online shopping sites, among which 'Failure of Delivery' ranks at the top. Taking a cue from retailers like Wal-Mart & Best Buy, Amazon has introduced a unique way to make sure that the package always gets delivered to you. Amazon has started the service called as Amazon Lockers where large metal cabinets are installed at your local convenience, retail and drug stores from where you can receive your shipments. The way this service works is that - once the goods reach the nearest locker the receiver is informed about it via email, a secret code accompanied with the email can help users open the locker and get their merchandise. For the time being the locker has a 10 pound capacity that means the larger products have to be shipped directly to your address.

This service makes the delivery process more secure and ensures privacy of the customers. Amazon provides this service free to the customers, but it has to pay rent for installing the locker in a location. There are total of 50 Amazon lockers available in the San Francisco Bay area, Washington, D.C., Seattle and New York for the time being and the service is set to expand. A similar strategy named as Collect+ is being experimented in the UK.
