AlumClub : Outsourced Alumni Network Management
AlumClub.com will manage the alumni networks (online) of the colleges and wants to make a business out of it. The company currently has three clients - XIMR, NL Dalmia, and IIT B and is expecting to reach a user base of about 8000 alumni over the next 30 days. The service offers everything you'd need to manager an alumni network and engage them with their alma mater. The company will charge the colleges but the pricing plans aren't available online at the moment.
I had worked on a similar project for my college and ultimately, I found out that it's indeed a great challenge to manage and maintain the college alumni networks - and the biggest one is attracting the alumni to register on the college alumni website. Most of the alumni from the first ever batches were reluctant to use the websites to stay connected and we had to resort to the basic 'sms' & 'phone calls' to keep them interested in college's alumni association.
It'd be interesting to find out what approach alumclub takes to solve this problem. I believe it's better to keep in touch with college alumni through Facebook groups and pages. It solves the problem of getting people to sign up on the alumni network and offload the data they've already shared on Facebook.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you stay active in your college alumni association?
