All new Google Pay App to replace Google Wallet and Android Pay as an integrated payments platform

In a bid to take on its powerful competitors as Apple Pay and #-Link-Snipped-# platforms, Google has announced the roll out of ‘Google Pay’, a single payments platform that merges both Android Pay and Google Wallet. The tech giant is working on bringing Google Pay to all Google products including Chrome, Assistant so that users have a consistent checkout experience using the cards saved to their Google Account.
Google Pay app interface sports two tabs namely Home and Cards. The app showcases recent payment activity, offers and stores available nearby, and a card-style interface which includes a user's debit, credit, and other cards. As a faster means to pay the fares, the App can be used on transit in cities such as Kiev, London, and Portland with more cities being added to the list soon, quoted Google in a blogpost.
It can also be used pay friends even the ones without Google Pay, if users have their email address or phone number. Further users can enjoy all the same perks and rewards as they did with their physical cards complete with personalized suggestions. Security features are also upped for the new App as it doesn’t share one’s actual card number for payment at the stores thereby safeguarding account and personal data from security threat.
Meanwhile Google has also rebranded the Google Wallet app as Google Pay Send and updated the design in line with the rest of Google Pay. However, it may only be a temporary feature before the full version of the new app rolls out. In India, #-Link-Snipped-# might undergo rebranding as the Google Pay app to bring its experiences to Tez users as well. As of now users in U.S. or the UK, would be able to use the app to send and request money within the next few months. For other countries however, Google has not revealed any specific release dates yet.
