Alcatel, on Friday, has launched Pixi 4 smartphone in the Indian market. The company has launched, previously, the other variants of Pixi 4 series which had larger screen size. This one with a 5 inch touch screen has especially been released and is available for sale at Flipkart at Rs 4,999.

The phone has a dimension of 140.7 x 72.5 x 9.5 mm and weighs as light as 169 gm. It has a 5 inch TFT touch screen with a 480 x 854 pixels FWVGA resolution. The device is available in four colour variants – namely Metal Silver, Metal Gold, Sharp Blue and Volcano Black, of which, the volcano black suits the best.

It has a primary camera of 8 MP and a secondary camera of 5 MP. Both the cameras are provided with flash and Polaroid filters to capture good quality images under low light. The primary camera is enabled to capture HD videos whereas the secondary camera is ideal for capturing selfies.
The device has a 1 GHz quad core processor, supported by a RAM of 1 GB. Internal storage is of 8 GB capacity and can be expanded up to 32 GB on microSD. The device supports almost all the connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc. It has dual SIM slots, of which, only one supports the 4G functionality. The other one supports up to 3G and both of them can be used on dual standby.
Talking about the sensors, the phone has only Gravity and Proximity sensors present inside it. It has an additional 3.5 mm jack to support headset connectivity features, FM and other multimedia access. The device is powered by a 2000 mAh battery which provides it a standby time of 196 hours.

Alcatel’s Pixi 4 tries to provide a decent 4G camera phone at a price of Rs 4,999. Though it has good camera specifications and 4G functionalities, it fails down in the memory and hardware section. Featuring Android Marshmallow with such a low RAM will allow only a handful of applications to run over. Still, the phone isn’t as bad as it sounds and may attract customers because of its excellent camera specification and low price.
