Aeroscepsy Yamaha Team Build Pedal-Powered Aircraft Bike, Aim For World Record!

#-Link-Snipped-#

Aeroscepsy, the japanese team, who works for Yamaha, has developed a what we call an aircraft-bike, and what they call 'Gokurakutombo' - which translates to 'happy-go-lucky' or 'happy dragonfly'. This pedal-powered aircraft is human-powered and aiming for a new world record for largest distance by flying 75 miles over the Pacific Ocean in Japan. Built up from polystyrene and carbon fiber, this aircraft is ultra-lightweight - It weighs just 81 pounds. With wings stretching 117 feet wide, the aircraft benefits from the thermal air currents and flies around smoothly.

Team Aeroscepsy has made plans to take off from a field near Mt. Fuji next spring. The flight duration will be a long four hours and the pilot would need to keep pedalling with power that is required for climbing uphill constantly - which could be only a job for a professional cyclist. We have all eyes set.

Till we hear more from the team, take a look at the video from their recent test flight -
