  • Generally feed water heaters either low pressure & high pressure are using bleed steam from turbine to raise feed water temp. to as high as possible to saturation level. The advantages being 1) savings in fuel 2) extraction of heat from flue gases & lowering exhaust flue gas temp. 3) Being static in nature no running cost 4) Increase in area of T-Ø chart i.e. work done. However in practice, saturation temp for that particular pressure is never achieved. For example in a typical 210MW Turbo Alternator set, feed water temperature after HP Heater is maximum 275°c when boiler steam pressure is 150kg/cm² while saturation temperature is 350°c .That is 75°c less temp. which is made-up in boiler furnace. Will it be technically possible to add another HP Heater/s to gain this temperature ? This may help in lowering boiler heat rate & economy in fuel/coal.
