Here's a simple puzzle I stumbled upon and I'm quite sure that the majority of the engineers, who're supposed to be strong at basic mathematics (and logic and reasoning) won't be able to answer this within 2 minutes. But you should give it a try.

Set the timer to 2 minutes before you attempt!

Answer is 40 😀 Time: 3 minutes 😀

if the number is odd then multiply both numbers and multiply the answer with 5, and if it's even then add them and then multiply with 5.
for 1+1, 1 is odd:
1x1 = 1 now multiplying 5x1 = 5 hence the answer.

for 2+2, 2 is even:
2+2 = 4 now multiply with 5: 4x5 = 20 hence the answer.

for 3+3, 3 is odd:
3x3 = 9, now multiply with 5: 9x5 = 45 hence the answer.

using this logic:

4+4, 4 is even:
4+4 = 8, now multiply with 5: 8x5 = 40 hence the answer.

Am I right? or 80 is the real answer 😀 ?

Wait, the answer could be 80 if we use the same method as I did for odd numbers 😀 Or it could be 40, too 😀

Here is my logic.
(n+n)^2 + n*n = (2n)^2 + n*n = 4n^2+n^2 = 5n^2.
