8-Bit Musical Umbrella: It's Music In The Rain

Poets have bowled us over through the years with their expression of romance in the rain. And we definitely tend to love the rain for the aroma and the sound it creates when the drops reach the ground. But creators of the musical umbrella, Alice Zappe and Julia Läger, added on to the natural experience by including 8-bit music to the umbrella.

The modified umbrella features 12 piezo sensors, two speakers and a Arduino Uno chip and lots of connecting wires. The piezo sensors respond to the falling drops of the rain on the umbrella fabric and converts the pressure to 8-bit sound using the Arduino Uno chip. The speakers produce more sound as the intensity of rain increases. It's just 8-bit music but  there could be future for adding more songs which would play according to the rain's intensity (i.e. slow music for slow rain or fast music for a heavier shower).
