$600m Movie Theme Park To Be Constructed In Dubai
The real estate firm Meraas will be constructing a AED2.2bn ($598m) movie-based theme park in Dubai. The 74 hectare park located near Arabian Ranches intersection in Dubai will showcase the US based movie attractions. The project will have the latest-in-technology games and rides. The details of the park will be displayed at the Meraas’ stand at the #-Link-Snipped-# which will be held from 30th April to 3rd May at Dubai.

“Meraas recognizes the need for a theme park in Dubai that will complement the UAE’s growing popularity as a tourism hub. Dubai Adventure Studios will offer a truly unique experience that will set a distinctive benchmark in the evolution of the theme park industry,â€#-Link-Snipped-# Sina Al Kazim, chief business development officer at Meraas Holding.
The president of the UAE conglomerate BinHendi Enterprises, Mr. Mohi-Din BinHendi, had earlier expressed his view that in order to become a global tourism destination, Dubai needs a large scale entertainment resort like the Disney land. He said, “We need an entertainment anchor for the family, something like Disney but not Disney. If we have a project like this in Dubai, we have an anchor for the whole of the world. There is a big gap between Euro Disney and Tokyo Disney. There is a craving for an entertainment anchor [in this region].â€Â The park will be constructed in three phases and the first phase would be started early next year. The whole project is planned to be commissioned by 2014.
Similar projects are being developed in other countries too. Abu Dhabi had announced earlier this month that it would be constructing a new theme park with over 25 rides in 5 themed islands.  Adventure World Abu Dhabi will be constructed in collaboration with Adventure World Poland which will open a similar park in Warsaw. The theme park will have more than 100 experts working on it. Also the $165m Yas Water Park, which is being constructed in the Abu Dhabi's $40bn Yas Island is on schedule and will be finished in the 4th quarter of next year.
