100 times faster internet through scratch switching

hi guys
just wondering if anyone has some sort of data on the recent experiments going on with NextGen Internet technology

i.e Scientists have developed what they claim is a small scratch on a piece of glass, which could make the internet nearly 100 times faster and give users unlimited, error-free access anywhere in the world.

this was in the news few months back.
does some one hae more information on this ?

any help greatly appreciated..
