I wish to know if the IT industry can blacklist you. For example, let’s say a person:

    • breaks a contract like notice period or joining date or employment contract

    • was laid off because of misconduct

    • has had very poor performance

    • got FIR registered in India

    • has a trial going on against him

Is it possible that he or she can get backlisted from the entire IT industry in India? I heard that if a company files a complaint to the NASSCOM, then it makes it impossible for the person to find another job in the IT industry.

    Please help.

First of all, NASSCOM promotes and supports the growth of the Indian IT industry, business process management by setting standards. It has nothing to do with the blacklist.

You cannot get blacklisted in IT industry in India; because there is no common blacklist among the Indian IT companies. It's a common myth that a company can get you banned in all the other IT companies.

However, you should keep in mind that the ban can happen within a company. If you were expelled by the company for any of the reasons, they may decide to blacklist you in their company and all their branches or offices.

Having spent close to 2 decades in the industry, I've not yet heard anyone getting banned in the IT industry.

    I hope this helps.
