Yahoo's CEO, Carol Bartz isn't really helping Yahoo come out of its troubles. Once upon a time Internet's leading portal is closing down its services and continuing to fire employees in all of its global offices. Yahoo has confirmed that in the latest round of firing in 2011, it will let go of its 1% employee base. Yahoo had approximately 14000 employees in Q3 of 2009 and it had fired about 700 employees in December. So with a rough estimate, Yahoo will lay-off about 150+ employees in this round.

Here's official statement from Yahoo -

The personnel changes we are making are part of our ongoing strategy to best position Yahoo! for revenue growth and margin expansion and to support our strategy to deliver differentiated products and experiences to the marketplace. We’ll continue to hire on a global basis to support our key priorities. Today’s action impacts approximately 1% of the global employee base.

Yahoo's downfall continues with it losing a major share of its display advertising business to newer startups like Facebook. Facebook recently got 4th place in global display advertising market share.

At the same time, search engine giant Google is hiring engineers in record numbers. It hired about 4,500 Googlers in 2010 and it's already posted a Official Google Blog: Help wanted: Google hiring in 2011 announcing their hiring plan.

What do you think can Yahoo do to stop its downfall?
