  • Xolo, the Indian handset manufacturer, is here with a new 7-inch tablet called the XOLO Play Tab 7.0 that runs the Android Jelly Bean operating system and offers an average yet adequate set of tech specs and features. Sporting a 7-inch IPS display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and pixel density of 216 ppi, the Xolo Play Tab 7.0 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor accompanied by 1 GB of RAM. Back in September i.e. last month we told you about Lava XOLO Tab Specifications & Price In India Say 3G Video Calling Gadget For Rs. 13,499 - an 8-inch IPS screen tablet running the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system and powered by the 1.2GHz quad-core CPU and Adreno 203 GPU. It was priced at Rs. 13,500. Seems like XOLO is determined to make its footprint felt in the Indian tablet market.

Coming back to the new XOLO Play Tab specs, we have a full-HD video playback capability and a 2 mega-pixel front facing camera for making video calls. Sadly, there's no rear end camera. Deriving power from a 4000mAh battery which delivers 8 hours of music playback, the Xolo Play Tab has 194.6 x 122.6 x 10.6 mm for dimension and weighs at around 338 grams. "As Xolo continues to deliver on its promise to bring differentiated technology to discerning consumers, we're replicating the success we've achieved in the smartphone category now in tablets. XOLO Play Tab 7.0 marks the first tablet in the XOLO Play category of products, powered by NVIDIA Tegra. Similar to Xolo Play T1000 smartphone launched in July, the Tab delivers similar entertainment now on a bigger 7-inch screen," said Sunil Raina, business head at XOLO.

For connectivity, the Xolo Play Tab users can use bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Micro-USB. There is no SIM card facility and therefore no 3G. But, one remarkable feature for high-end gaming enthusiasts is the 12-core NVIDIA ULP GeForce graphics processing unit that comes built in the tablet. That pretty much sums up everything we know about the tablet so far. As and when people start buying it at a price of Rs. 12,999, we will see the pouring of reviews. Till then, keep speaking out in comments.

I found the product a bit over-priced for a standard 7 inch tablet. The specifications are quite common, and usual, and with other market available products at a lower price range, there is sparing chances that this baby would make it big in the tablet world.... We are soon to find that out ourselves.
