Running on a the engine of a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor and Adreno 306 GPU, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 comes with two SIM card slots with 4G LTE support. The Cortex A53 processors is said to be 1.5 times faster than the Cortex A7 processor. On the memory side, the Redmi 2 packs 2 GB RAM and 16 GB ROM (expandable up to 32 GB via microSD). A decent 2200 mAh lithium polymer battery provides juice to the smartphone and as you can see from the image below, at 9.3 mm the phone looks pretty sleek.
With that we come to the end of specifications for Xiaomi Redmi 2 smartphone. It was only in January last week that Xiaomi CEO, Mr. Lei Jun announced the upgrade to 2GB RAM. The general opinion before that was that the Redmi 2 is a good phone for the low asking price, but not the successor everyone was hoping for. While the phone is priced in China at 699 yuan (approximately Rs. 7000), we expect the phone to be reasonably priced in India. After the Chinese company recently discontinued Xiaomi Redmi 1S, it makes sense to launch another entry level phone.
The Mi India word contest ends on March 11, so we can expect the launch to take place in the next few weeks. Those looking for the three key features for the Mi word puzzle should try the words: 'Movies', 'Snapdragon', 'Matte', 'QuickCharge' and 'Expandable'. With that we sign off with the promise of bringing you the official Redmi 2 price in India as soon as the launch happens.
