Would you donate money to your college, few years after graduation?

The commercialisation of the education system resulted into mushrooming of the engineering colleges all over India. I believe this has affected the 'bond' (the emotional one) between the students and the institutions and its students & alumni.

I wish to ask CEans, would you consider donating money to your alma-mater few years after you're settled in your career and are in a position to 'donate'? Do you have that 'bond' with your alma-mater? Or do you think the college's are already making enough money that the whole purpose of donation won't solve any problem?

    No way !

nowadays the times are so bad that we just cannot afford to get emotional over the concept of "Alma mater". it is plainly absurd and baseless.

besides even if we donate, there is no guarantee whether the money will be used for the development of the college, or will be simply misused.

Instead of giving to the Alma Mater It is better we help needy student who are trying the same old beaten path there in our stead. That will be my prime action

Whether money will be used for good or bad is secondary thing. Donation means helping someone in need. Primarily, there's NO need of donation in private engg. colleges. They are run by quite stable bussinessmans who don't really need money. The xtremely pity condition of 1000s of private engg. colleges is due to the fact that those businessmans don't invest money in their colleges. Which is not any 'problem'. It is a deliberate condition. So, a BIG NO TO SUCH DONATION!
