With New Microsoft Patent Applications You May Direct A Paranormal Activity Too!

Kinect's abilities are well known to one and all, and with a couple patent applications, the device is all set to go the Hollywood way. One patent talks of a portable depth camera, in which a mobile environment sensor decides the path it'll follow in a room and creates a map as it moves, either with an infrared sensor or stereoscopic cameras. In addition to visual mapping, the system also depends on a motion sensor to work out its position as it moves.

The second patent involves waking up the film-director in you. Movie-editing are controlled by the hand gestures, while the motion capture will let you chalk out your own fleeting acting career. Also, the depth camera generates a replica of the environment and also the 3D props of real things.

Whether these filed patents would be materialized soon is still unknown, but they do make for an interesting Kinect Fun Labs project.
