Winklevoss Brothers Face Rejection Again - Facebook

Their earlier attempt too, didn’t work out well. They had asked the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco to reconsider its April ruling upholding the $65m (£40m) settlement from 2008. In April, the panel comprising three judges decided that they will not allow a fresh case to begin and not scrap the original settlement. In the latest move, the Winklevoss brothers demanded a complete 11-judge panel to review the decision. No new reasons were cited for the same. Their lawyer, Jerome Falk, stated that they will apply in the Supreme Court for due justice.

The 2008 settlement gave them $20m in cash and $45m of stock valued at $36 a share. But the shares remain untraded, and the brothers say that they were duped because internally the shares were only valued at $9.

The movie 'The Social Network' depicts the events regarding the creation of Facebook and the conflicts thereafter.
