Windows 8 Might See A 'Curved' On-Screen Keyboard, Reports Say

If sources are to be believed, Researchers at Microsoft are working on the concept of a curved on-screen thumb keyboard for Windows 8. What is claimed to be a leaked Microsoft Research presentation by the folks at WMPoweruser, reveals the design of an 'curved' on-screen keyboard.

The curved keyboard is designed with a purpose to facilitate thumb typing on touch-screen phones. The concept supports one-handed thumb typing and provides predictive text technology so that users don't have to worry about constantly looking at the phone to avoid mistakes. The curved design features several keys clustered together.

More than a year ago, Microsoft unintentionally revealed, in a Research video, that it was working on  a "one handed input and next gen soft keyboard." Deriving from above and the fact that the leaked image has an HTC Trophy being used for the demo, WMPoweruser contemplates that this feature might become a part of Windows 8. If so, this change would be Microsoft's most revolutionary change to the Western SIP yet, WMPowerUser believes.

Microsoft introduced plans to carry out some basic changes in the Windows 8 UI  which included new Start screen, multi-core support and NFC but there was no news from the company on the possibility of a 'curved' keyboard in future.
