Wikipedia has been criticizing Stop Online Piracy Act(SOPA) and Protect Intellectual Property Act(PIPA) since the beginning, along with other giants like Google, Facebook etc. They are not alone in this plan, Reddit has also announced the black-out on Wednesday from 8 AM to 8 PM, along with Boing Boing and Cheezburger. Wikimedia foundation, the organization behind Wikipedia has been discussing the plan of protest for a long time and now, they have come up with this plan. While Wikipedia has a lot of support in this protest, they also have some criticism. Dick Costolo, CEO at Twitter, said that the protest is silly. He said in a tweet that closing a global business in reaction to single-issue national politics is foolish. Later he clarified that he was talking about Twitter only, not the protest as whole.
