Hello, I am an electronics engineer from Solapur and I have a query. I want to know why we use 12MH crystal in ARM LPC 2148? Does anyone have any idea about this? Please help me.

why we use 12MH crystal in ARM LPC 2148
Basically Crystal used to provide clock to Microcontroller. Now a days Internal RC oscillator is used to generate clock for the system but if we are talking about accuracy then Crystal has more accuracy in clock timing and there might be some error in Internal RC.

It is not necessary to connect 12Mhz Crystal with ARM LPC 2148 if it is being used for clock source you can check datasheet, There is range of the Crystal Frequency provided you can any between that range.

well for that you can use LD1117S33 or LM317 Which is variable using resistor setting you can design 3.3V regulator.

Also 12MH crystal to have faster synchronization when datas are transferred . just to avoid latency period ! Correct my statement if I am wrong .

See pages 22-23 of the #-Link-Snipped-# for a simple example circuit using the 7805 voltage regulator.

As far as components, you just need the 7805 and two capacitors (0.33uF & 0.1uF) for the basic circuit.

    EDIT:
Oh, you said 3.3V power supply! Sorry about that. Go with godfather's advice to adjust output level...

Or, you could step down the voltage with a couple of diodes in series (typical diodes have a 0.7V drop, so two of them would bring the voltage down to 3.6V, three of them would bring the voltage down to 2.9V).
