What will happen if the rechargeable battery is kept at full 100%charge for longer du

Hi,
I read this point in the net -
"Limit the time at which the battery stays at 100%. Prolonged high voltage promotes corrosion, especially at elevated temperatures"
source-https://batteryuniversity.com/index.php/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries

How far is this true? Can anyone prove this with more explanation please?
