What is the bandwidth allotted to wireless services?

the limitations of wireless performance majorly due to limited bandwidth....generally what is the bandwidth allocated for wireless services??? i mean there will be certain fixed allocated bandwidth isn't it???

bandwidth is proportional to frequency. infact its can also be called as spectrum. The bandwidth is not an issue in wireless performance, the issue is rather using the spectrum efficiently without causing data loss to noise /interference.

you told that bandwidth is not an issue in wireless performance..but i dont think so...if there is infinite bandwidth available there is no need of various techniques like multiple access techniques etc.,since the bandwidth available for wireless services is limited we are working on various techniques to efficiently use the spectrum...isnt it??

I liked this post for the way she is thinking and not accepting the things without reasons.
    Keep it Up.

Bandwidth have two units, frequency(Hz) & bps(bits per second) that are being used for Analog & digital transmissions respectively.

Consider if your wireless connection says 2.1Mbps it means you are fetching 2 million of data per second.So,2.1 Mbps is your bandwidth speed.
Every different wireless technology has different bandwidth, Ex. EDGE,GPRS,UMTS,HSDPA,etc. The bandwidth speed differs from 2.5G (GPRS) to 3.5G (HSDPA) to 4G.

    EDGE - 236.8 kbit/s
    GPRS - 56 kbit/s
    HSDPA - 14.4 Mbit/s
All are theoretical bandwidth values, real time bandwidth is always lesser than theoretical outputs.

hm.. there is no infinite bandwidth as such, its 'HOW' you want to use the BW allocated.
For example - apart from mobile communciations, there are other devices which use frequency to communciate such as TVs, Radios, satellites as such. You can refer to this diagram which shows various categorisation #-Link-Snipped-#

Ok for example - in TDMA/FDMA access methods. you were allocated specific timeslots/frequencty in which you could use the frequency to communicate right? but as more and more people went on using the BW - there was a need to accomodate more users in same given spectrum.
As more carriers are needed, better techniques uch as code divison, orthogonal muxing have come into picture.
Also, multiplexing techinques, access techniques are not only to accomodate as many users as possible , but also, find those carriers which dont casue interference as such.
