Where from does torque calculated in a car? And what is the proportionality between torque and performance?

Technically the torque is used to measures the "turning/torquing ability" of the engine. Practically, torque is a better measurement of how quickly your car will accelerate.

    This will give you how torque is calculated - <a href="http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/torq2.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Torque and Equilibrium</a>
