Water Discus Hotel - Underwater Hotels In Dubai Soon To Be A Reality
Dubai never ceases to surprise us with the innovations in its construction Industry. They created man-made islands along its coast, a record by building the world’s tallest building, and now shipbuilding arm of Dubai World, the Drydocks World, has revived the plans of constructing the underwater hotels in Dubai. On Wednesday BIG InvestConsult AG signed s contract as a representative of a Polish company, the Deep Ocean Technology (DOT), who own the concept of Water Discus Hotel.

The hotel will have a part of its structure above water surface (Above Water Discus) and a part of it underground (Underwater Discus). As seen from the image, there is a disc like structure under water and it will be consisting of luxury rooms and it will be connected to the disc like structure above water by columns. The centre shaft is wide and opens to the sky giving a sense of spaciousness. It is also possible to connect a helipad to the upper disc. Even so, this project is still in its design stage.

The advantage of this hotel design is that it can be customized to suit the client's needs and can be of any size. It can also be designed to suit the shape of coastline and depth of water. The other advantage is that it can be easily transferred to any other location in case it disrupts the coastal ecosystem. The safety of this structure is ensured by three sturdy legs in the circumference which will be fixed in the sea bed.

In a press release, Bogdan Gutkowski, President of BIG INVEST Group #-Link-Snipped-# “Water Discus Hotel project opens many new fields of development for hotel and tourism sector, housing and city sector in the coastal off-shore areas, as well as new opportunities for ecology support by creation of new underwater ecosystems and activities on underwater world protection.â€
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Also Drydocks did not mention the exact location where the hotel would be built and when the construction works would commence. But there are plans of such hotels to be soon built in many other cities as well.
