Voltage controlled resistor

Hello,
I would like to make a variable resistance controlled by voltage in order to get variable resistance for gain. I want the resistance change to be linear with the voltage. could you help me to find the circuit either by using transistor or by using op-amp.

use MOStransistor for your purpose it is a voltage controllable device,,,if you are dealing with a sensitive project or equivalent......in its linear region it behaves as a voltage controllable resistor......
