Volta BCN (Sport, City & My Volta) Electric Motorcycles Do 70 Km For €0.45

With the battery technology advancing to bring down the costs/kilometers for electric vehicles we clearly see a future belonging to electric transport vehicles. Barcelona's Volta Electric Motorbikes company has just announced Volta BCN motorcycle in three variants - BCN Sport, BCN City and BCN My Volta. The motorcycle will be showcased at upcoming auto event EICMA 2011. The company has high hopes from the BCN series motorcycle and has declared that pre-order will begin in the first few weeks of 2012 while the customers can expect delivery during the second quarter of 2012. The price is expected to start at â¬7,000 ( ~ $10k ).

Volta Motorbikes company mentioned in their press release that the BCN series all in one package combining style, performance, innovation and sustainability. The company is currently working on the final touches to their design. At EICMA, the company plans to launch three models. The BCN Sport, as you'd guess, is sporty looking motorbike while City offers cosmopolitan design and emphasis has been given to comfortable riding in city traffic conditions. The BCN My City is your customized bike (you can personalize it while purchasing online; the website is yet to go live). All BCN motorcycles offer 35 HP drive.

The company claims that it takes about 2 hours to charge the battery (lithium-polymer) completely. The cost of recharging is about â¬0.45. After 1500 charging cycles, the battery will still have 80% of life left.
