Project Abstract / Summary : VISUAL INFORMATION SYSTEM INTEGRATING OUR NEIGHBORHOODS
OBJECTIVE :
The main aim of this project is to design a wearable system (shoes) to detect and avoid obstacles and to provide an impeccable backing to the visually impaired under all possible circumstances which helps them to navigate safely and make them feel one among the normal crowd.
TECHNICAL DETAILS :
Resources-
· Ultrasonic sensors
· Infra red sensors
· QRD reflective object sensors
· AT-Mega Controller
· Buzzer
· Vibration Motor
Scope-
This system helps the visually impaired to survive independently by tracking the path without others support. The sensors help the people to navigate safely by detecting and avoiding obstacles. Since this is user-friendly, it will be easy for the blind to read the indications and respond accordingly.
Design-
MARKET POTENTIAL AND COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES :
This system is based on three factors -
· Cost effective
· Power effective
· Reducing the mental complex in the minds of the visually impaired
Due to these factors, the value of this system in the market will always be stable as this acts as an artificial visual aid for the blind by answering the unanswered question.
INNOVATIVENESS -
The main criteria of electronics is power consumption. In order to reduce the power usage, feedback principle is implemented in the system. A series of piezo-electric crystals are placed beneath the sole of the shoe which generates current for every tap of the feet while walking. Ultimately, this current is fed back to the main circuit which can be operated without any power interruptions.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : In order to help the visually impaired by reducing the mental complex in them and make them feel one among the normal crowd. Visually impaired people possess a humongous amount of mental complex which cannot be simply gotten rid off. Thus we have planned to help them out by designing this kind of wearable system which will be acting as a visual aid for the visually impaired. As our project title is VISION, it is a visual information system wherein it will be informing the individual regarding the detected obstacles and helps them stay safe by integrating them among the normal crowd.
