VIRTUAL HOUSE - LOW COST IoT BASED HOME AUTOMATION

Project Abstract / Summary : This project mainly focus on home automation using internet from anywhere, anytime. In our modern day to day busy life, we normally forget to switch off lights, fans, geyser and other electrical appliances before we leave home. Also we may forget to feed our pets. This may lead to wastage of electricity and increase the electric bill. Also if we are in rural areas safety is an other factor we need look for our house. To avoid electrical wastage and to monitor our house virtually, we propose our low cost work on home automation using internet protocol. Since it is low cost and accessible using internet, it is affordable to almost every working professionals. The electrical appliances at our home can be monitored and controlled anytime from anywhere even with our smart phone. This gives a feeling of virtual living. In other words we can say our proposed work as Virtual House. Our project makes use of AT328 micro controller board(Probably an Arduino uno), Ethernet or Wi-fi card, Relay circuits, Gas sensor, Heat sensor, Light sensor and Ultrasonic sensor. The Microcontroller reads different sensor values placed at different locations of the house and communicate to the host through internet via Ethernet (or) Wi-fi router. The user can control different electrical appliances from remote place with web browser by just entering the IP address of the micrcontroller.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : To familiarize with latest internet of things concept. To provide a low cost internet based automation system to all people. To reduce the wastage of electricity and increase the convenience of controlling house appliances from anywhere, anytime. In future, number of other control facilities can be added with the existing base system without spending more amount of money

Project Highlights : Our project aims to take automation system to all people, by reducing it's cost. It focuses on saving electricity and to reduce the complexity in home automation. . It addresses the problems faced by working people to manage the home out of their busy day to day life schedule. Our project aim is home automation to all.
