    Dear all,
Will you please tell me the reason of using diode across the relay.what is the purpose of using it?

The coil of the relay is inductive. When the relay is switched off a reverse voltage will appear across the terminals. This may cause some damage or disturbance to the rest of the circuits. A reverse biased diode across the coil shorts out this spike.

    It is also called Freewheeling Diode :- <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flyback_diode" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Flyback Diode</a>

Relays are work on physical mutual Induction process its need some time our required time hence in case of diode no need of physical contact and also no need of protecting layer, and use is easy and no need of higher voltage to operate it occuracy more
