    the types are:

    open circuit type
    closed circuit type
    the third one is the combination of both the first and the second.

    open circuit takes in atmospheric air , compresses it and burns it with fuel and this product of combustion is used to run the turbine, after which it is exhausted to the atmosphere.

    closed circuit on the other hand does reject anything to the atmosphere. it does not even burn the gas with the fuel, but heats it, (after compressing), and runs the turbine. after this it is cooled, compressed and the cycle is repeated.
