    it also starts right from Electric automation (using contactors, push buttons) pneumatic (FRL, suction cups), hydraulic (arm movements) electro-mechanical ( for conjuction of both), controllers based (uC, PLC, computer), Robotic (Articulated and monotonous work), GSM/GPRS based ( direct DI/DO measurements) etc...

    How about simple bimetallic temperature controllers, lever operated limit switches, centrifugal speed governors and lots more non electronic devices?

    yes, sir.. it is part of non electronic devices... of which active transducers are part of... these are part of transducers and instrumentation which can be used for a variety of automation solutions like the ones listed above...
