Two Factor Authentication using QR-code
Project Abstract / Summary : The use of QR code-based technologies and applications has become prevalent in recent years where QR codes are accepted to be a practical and intriguing data representation/processing mechanism amongst worldwide users.
The aim of this study is to design and implement an alternative two-factor identity authentication system by using QR codes and to make the relevant mechanism and process that could be more user friendly and practical than one time password mechanisms used with similar purposes today.
One time password mechanisms are vulnerable since they can be hacked using man-in- the-middle attack,phishing,spoofing,etc.This system provides an another level of security where QR code acts as the first factor and the android mobile acts as the second factor.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : Rise in digital transactions has increased the load on the server which affects the OTP delivery , also the system becomes vulnerable to different network attacks(man-in- the-middle attack,phishing,spoofing,etc). So we decided to come up with a system which solves the above issues.
Project Highlights : Our system solves many security(man-in- the-middle attack,phishing,spoofing,etc) and performance(time taken for OTP delivery,load on the server to send emails,etc) related issues along with providing assistance to visually impaired individuals. The USP of our system is that we are using QR codes.
