Tweet and Text If It’s Urgent: IOC to Olympics Spectators In London

This statement came after the trouble at the men’s cycling event where the tweets and texts sent by the spectators at the venue caused overloading of data networks which made GPS data from the cyclists hard to receive and the result was the commentators could not tell the television audience how far the leaders were away from the rest of the other cyclists.

The fans have now been advised to avoid non urgent tweets and messages while the London 2012 games are on so that it would not affect the quality of television broadcast. This also highlighted the network problems faced due to spike in usage at transport and crowd hotspots during the games.
