The vessel has a 537m2 area on the deck covered by the 38,000 high performance photovoltaic solar panels made by SunPower Corp. It will help in collecting 600kW in good weather which will be stored in six lithium-ion batteries. The 85 tonnes catamaran is made using 20.6 tonnes of lightweight carbon fiber, 11.5 tons of foam core, 23 tons of resin and is aerodynamically designed. The design allows it to reach speeds of 14 knots though its hull is of size capable of hosting 200 persons.

World’s biggest solar powered ship sails down the Thames and had a grand welcome when Tower bridge opened its flanged.

You will be all amazed to read that Planet Solar has travelled across 28 countries, 11 seas and 5 oceans but consumed no fuel at all. Whoa ! Isn't that amazing?
