TU-103 Eats Newspapers To Bio-Fuel Cars. Newspapers Beat Internet.
CrazyEngineers digital marketers often have to inform our potential advertisers how 'Internet' is a more powerful medium than the traditional 'newspapers'. There's however, one point where the newspapers beat the Internet and it's quite an important point. Tulane University scientists have discovered a way to use recycled newspapers to fuel our vehicles. The scientists have discovered novel bacterial strain, called âTU-103,â which can use paper to produce bio-fuel called butanol which can act as a fuel for the cars. The chemical properties of butanol reveal that it can be used as an alternative to gasoline. Scientists have performed experiments with Times Picayune and have obtained encouraging results.

TU-103 is the first bacterial strain found to be capable of producing butanol directly from cellulose. As a biofuel, butanol is superior to ethanol and can be used in vehicles without any changes to the engines. This new fuel can be transported in existing pipelines, causes less corrosion and offers more energy than ethanol - which means cars will be able to deliver more mileage.
