Traffic pre emption for ambulane and fire engines

Hi friends, I want to do my final year project on this topic. But this system is already exist in US, Can anybody help me to improve the existing system.

This system is used to clear the traffic signal so as to reach the destination without wasting time in signals and in congestion. with this we can improve the performance of life safety vehicles like ambulance,fire engines and police vehicles. The ambulance will have a transmitter and the traffic signals must have receiver , when the ambulance approaching the signal the signal must turn to green automatically.
