Toyota has announced on Monday that it will start the sales of its Hydrogen Fuel Cell cars from 2015. In a move to compete with the hydrogen fuel cell powered cars from Hyundai and Honda, Toyota seems to be gearing up for the big launch. After having worked with researchers from University of California and Irvine University, Toyota has declared that it will have 10,000 vehicles supported with only 68 refueling stations from San Francisco to San Diego. The Fuel Cell Vehicle or FCV from Toyota is green because it emits just water vapors through the exhaust - the announcement for the same was made by the Japanese automobile maker at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014.
According to the research estimates, it is being said that the FCV users would need hydrogen stations and planned to put them within six minutes of their home or work. But, giving a positive spin to the assumptions and speculations Bob Carter, senior vice president of automotive operations for Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A said, "We don't need a station on every corner" and that infrastructure for the same is going to happen. An engineering prototype used for extensive on-road testing in North America for more than a year has consistently delivered a driving range of about 300 miles, the company said. The prototype also delivers zero-to-60 mph acceleration of about 10 seconds and the Hydrogen-tank refueling takes three to five minutes.

Toyota also shared its plans of focusing on selling hydrogen cars only in California at first. California has approved $200 million to build about 20 fueling stations by 2015, 40 by 2016 and 100 by 2024. Toyota as a group has launched really cool fuel-efficient cars in the past. The one to name is Toyota Launches Aqua - Smallest Fuel-Efficient Hybrid Car. Almost a year back, we told you about Hyundai beginning mass production of its hydrogen fuel cell cars. So, we can soon expect to see some great action in the Hydrogen powered car segment.
Coming to the pricing details for this car. Toyota has promised that it will sell its fuel-cell cars for $50,000 to $100,000, aiming for the lower end of the range. So, for that price, how do you like the idea of owning a Hydrogen Fuel Cell powered car from Toyota? Share your thoughts with us in comments below.
