    Hey,
    I am TE Mech student with an assignment in Design of Machine Elements. I have to design a basic toggle jack for Chevrolet Tavera from scratch. I am quite at sea with how to start off. 😕

    What I know so far:
    Total weight of the car=2375kg
    Ground clearance: 184mm

    Some guidance would be really appreciated!

    One good starting point would be to create a design then determine the failure criteria for things like shear, buckling, torsion, etc.
