I am final year computer science student. I have selected the domain network security,but I don't have any concept to start my project. can you tell recent concept related to network security.

1. Implement a simple protocol, say FTP between two/more machines and using Wireshark (earlier Ethereal) you can analyze and study the network, traffic, security etc. (You can implement FTP in Linux for improved security)

2. If you find it cool, you can try your hands on encryption algorithms.

I'd suggest to keep network security a part of full fledged project. That even makes your project useful enough (if it is creative) to be used by society.
