Tinkerplay App: A New 3D Printing Experience For Your Kids

At the time of its inception, 3D printing or additive manufacturing was thought to be a complex activity and not easily implementable for common people. Today, this technology can be used to print 3D structures from plastic, metal, concrete, and over a hundred other materials. Moreover, the 3D printers are getting cheaper so that everyone is finding feasible to make use of this technology. In this changing scenario, how can the small kids be left behind? In order to let children design and customize their favorite creatures and cartoon characters on mobile devices and make their models using 3D printers, an American multinational software company, Autodesk Inc.,widely known for its AutoCAD design software, has launched a new app called ‘Tinkerplay’.

This kid-friendly app allows the children to 3D print fun characters by taking help of the built-in part library that allows them to drag the parts from it at one place. Tinkerplay also offers magnifying mode for designing the parts in detail. It removes the need for additional rafts and support materials that can make the at-home design process difficult for children. The built-in character templates can be used for printing a particular character. Children can unleash their creativity by combining features of the characters from character templates. For example, they can create a scorpion ninja with spikes and dinosaur skin by combining the features of scorpion and ninja. The new app comes with a full multi-touch support so that the child may design characters with some extra help from friends or parents. It saves the work automatically and can undo and redo at will.
