This Rugged Smartphone Has An Integrated Thermal Imaging Camera, Meet The Cat S60

Perhaps you won’t be aware but Caterpillar Inc or Cat, the fellows famous for their industrial equipment have a side business of building rugged smartphones. Their new creation the Cat S60 is rugged as well but it features an inbuilt camera that is way different than any other smartphone in the market. The Cat S60 is the first ever smartphone to feature an integrated thermal imaging camera courtesy of FLIR. By now you realise that Cat hasn’t built the S60 for commoners, it is targeting individuals who are employed in the building business. Cat says that they would use the smartphone’s FLIR thermal imaging camera to detect heat loss in buildings, insulation issues, moisture formation and overheated thermal appliances. The dedicated FLIR thermal camera can take still images and capture video. You can know the exact temperature of a surface by using the temperature spot meter. Since it’s a thermal camera it can also be used to see things in complete darkness as well which is cool feature.
