The Indian IT industry is getting used to the ups and downs and the latest update may not please third and final year engineering folks from India. TCS, which is one of the biggest recruiters in Indian engineering colleges has decided to slow down their overall hiring this year. TCS CEO, N Chandrasekaran has said that it's a problem of demand and supply and the decision of hiring candidates is influenced by the order books of companies. He said that this year most of the IT companies won't hire in larger numbers because in the last two years the growth rate hasn't been good and the utilisation percentage has come down. He further added that the companies will be more cautious this year.

TCS typically hires about 60% of their total recruits every year from campuses. Cognizant's Laxmi Narayanan said that in the last 3-4 years, the salaries offered to entry level professionals have stagnated. Several companies have already began hiring non-engineering graduates to do the engineering jobs.
If you're graduating this year, it's better to make sure that your resume is attractive!
