Tata ZEST And BOLT Launch Pins Hope For A Turnaround
TATA Motors, the motor giant from India looks set to re-join the domestic competition with it unveiling two new cars in the Delhi Auto Expo. This is the first launch from the automaker in last four years in the passenger car segment. The company hopes to revive its degrading graph of sales with ZEST, the stylish sedan and BOLT, the sporty hatchback. The company had failed to roll out any new model in the last four years. Even the minor changes and tweaks in existing models could not help the declining fortunes of TATA.
According to the company, it has introduced a new âlanguage of designâ âDesignNext. Both models have been built on newly coined concepts of DesignNext, DriveNext and ConnectNext. Developed by the TATA Motors design studios in Pune, in collaboration with Coventry in UK and Turin in Italy, Zest and Bolt boast of many features that are first in the respective segments. Equipped with the typical TATA face grill, ZEST and BOLT define smart exteriors with chrome accent headlamps, daylights, 15â alloy wheels, etc. The floating roof provides enough to elevate the sporty look of BOLT. Powered by Turbocharged Inter-cooled Multi-point Fuel-Injected (MPFi) Petrol Engine with Revotron 1.2T, the cars are ready to showcase the virtues of economy and performance. Coupled with the F-tronic AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) technology, ZEST promises a powerful drive experience.
The company faces an uphill task ahead as steep competition await its entrants in the ânot-so-good economyâ period. Talking about the global appeal of the new cars, Ranjit Yadav, the president of passenger vehicles at TATA Motors, emphasized on horizonext, a concept that TATA looks to be associated with. It will be interesting to see whether the company can make its case heard in the tough market situations. Though company has no plans of taking Indica and Indigo off, ZEST and BOLT will definitely be compared against these cars when on road.
