TATA Photon Walky- The Wireless Landline Phone That's Also A Wi-Fi Hotspot

If you are still using a landline at your home or office in the age of wireless internet devices, here's a good news for you from the folks at Tata Teleservices. TATA's brand Tata Docomo has unveiled a new wireless portable device that can be used to make the usual phone calls and also browse the internet. This multi purpose device is named "Tata Photon Walky" and it can double as a landline as well as Wi-Fi hotspot that can connect up to 5 devices simultaneously. So, basically it is a wireless landline phone that can become your source of internet when you need it.

This move from Tata comes as a result of the thought that number of internet consumers in India has increased since the upsurge of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. With a device such as the Tata Photon Walky, the company wants to cater to the needs of multiple users who wish to access internet at home as well as on the move. Using the Tata Photon Wi-Fi, users can create their own Wi-Fi zone and the company promises easy set-up with just a press ofthe Wi-Fi key on the Walky.

From the looks of it, the Tata Photon Walky looks like an ideal solution for Wi-Fi-free conference rooms in corporate offices and even family outings or a casual brainstorming session among friends. Instead of having everyone in the room use their own smartphone to get online, a single mobile hotspot can do the job more cost-effectively.

Coming to the pricing - The Tata Photon Walky unit can be purchased for Rs. 2,099 and it comes with a monthly tariff plan starting from Rs. 499 for 3 GB data and 300 local or STD minutes going up to Rs 999 for 8 GB data and 1000 local or STD minutes for post-pay users.
