TATA Nano Diesel Engine Revealed - The Cheapest Diesel Car In The Making?
Just out in news is the headline about one of the most-awaited launch in the car-segment for 2013. The diesel-variant of TATA Nano. While it's true that we won't be seeing the TATA Nano Diesel anywhere before 2014, we now have a lot of scoops to make a cup full of interesting news on the car's engine. The cyber space became abuzz when Garrett, the turbocharger maker listed the details of Nano's Diesel Engine on its webpage.
Featuring a 800cc twin cylinder engine, which is nothing but a retuned version of TATA Ace Dicor's engine, the Tata Nano's common rail direct injection unit will have a max power of 40 bhp at 4,000 rpm and peak torque of 60 Nm. So, one can expect occasional high speed runs along with a fuel economy of 30 Kmpl.
It is being talked around that the entry level variant of this Diesel car will cost the buyers a sum of about INR 60,000 more than the petrol version and some are guessing at a price figure of approx. INR 2.5 Lakhs. In its claim to fame, TATA Nano Diesel would definitely want to bag the title of "world’s cheapest" once again. But, whether it is able to climb up on the sales charts of the company or not, that is what its success-deciding factor would be.

We have to wait for an official word about the launch date to find out more. In the mean time, we have to witness the launch of Nano's facelift in the CNG version. Car-lovers can now sit back and read a lot of reactions from other diesel car manufacturers in the entry level hatchbacks over the coming months. Buckle Up!
